Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then found multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for details.
A senior representative said the incident left him stunned and had to be addressed promptly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
